Jango:
Love Sherman Hill been running it in 2004 and 2006. Also got it into 2009 SP3. I am
going to stay with TRS2006 SP1 as my main train-sim, even with the messed up steam sound.
Most excited, no that's not true -- am most elated about the news on the pending release of the Donner Route. Hope to see more screenshots posted soon. The one you so garcefully posted appears to be near where the City of San Francisco got stuck in the winter of 1959. I followed this route back when threeheadedmonkey at VMD started it. Am elated that you and teamed up with VMD to see the route to completion.
Have several questions for you. First what ever happened with the 2-6-6-0 for Denver? Also is the CF SP 4285 Cab Forward that was to be available for download or purchase somewhere at your site? It was to be released last year, I can't find it anywhere, did I miss something?
Do you know of a Teheachapi Route based on the real DME available somewhere? I do not like the Trainz Pro one, it is nothing like the real thing, deleated it off my system after much fustration about how it looked. You guys have spoiled me for anything that doesn't measure up to your standards.
I have all of TrainzItalia routes and love them all. I've been aware of DMV's Donner Route that threeheadedmonkey was doing when he first started the route. I was in contact with him untill he gave up on the route. I am most elated to hear that he has joined forces with TrainzItalia to complete the route. Can't wait! From the shots I saw posted and special shots he sent me up to the time he gave up on it and with the quality of work you guys do the Donner Route will be the best yet. From the one screenshot posted in reply to my message it looks great. I have a lot of questions for that route.
How modern is or will be the Donner Route? Does it include the origional #1 line over Donner between Norden and the east end of the big bore summit tunnel? Is the Route from Roseville California to Reno or Sparks Nevada?
You know I'm a big Southern Pacific Fan. I was born in 1946 and experienced first hand Southern Pacific on the Shasta Route between Woodland CA and Redding CA., and over Donner Summit. As a child I watched the Shasta Daylight running up and down the Sacramento Valley, still remember the sound and smell of hot steam and oil of the Cab Forward's, 2-10-2, 4-8-2, and 2-8-0 working tonage over Donner and hearing their thounder sound ecco off the canyon walls. Now with your Donner Route when it is released I will be able to relive that great experience. Too bad you can't recreate the smell!!!! Then I could realy relive the menory!
I thought I would relay to you and your crew that I wouldn't be here long! My kiddneys are failing, I known this for 2 years now. I'm old, no insurance, no savings, and with no options they give be about 8 years so I have about 6 to go! Who knows, maybe within those 6 years something will come up to extend my time, but that is OK, I know where I'm going and am at peace. And when your Donner Route come out it will give me an excape as I relive a time in my past, to relive a piece of time from my childhood when I watched Southern Pacific work over Donner Summit.
Looking forward to your answers and to the Donner Route.
Your Friend,
Thomas Harbison
